Isabella films makes War in Wintertime

Winter in Wartime tells the tale of a fourteen year old boy Michiel, who, in the last winter in wartime of 44/45 becomes responsible for the care of an English pilot. This responsibility turns out to be more dangerous than it appears to be.

In 1972 War in Wartime was published by publisher Lemniscaat (Crusade in Jeans) and turned out to be a best seller with over 250.000 copies sold and translated in many languages. The film will be directed by Martin Koolhoven (Schnitzel Paradise, Bonkers) and the script written by Mieke de Jong (Bonkers, Lepel), Paul Jan Nelissen (Godforsaken!) and Martin Koolhoven.

The co-producing Dutch broadcaster is MAX and the film will be released by Independent Films, the same distributer of Koolhoven’s previous feature Schnitzel Paradise.

This film will be the first cooperation between the two production companies Isabella Films and Fu Works. Els Vandevorst: “I have known San Fu for quite some years now and I am positive that this particular combination as well as both our unique international network, will provide an added value to the film. Through Black Book San Fu has proved that there is still a tremendous demand for extraordinary tales from World War II.”

The film will be shot in Poland and The Netherlands and will be released with over 75 copies in 2008.

Today an announcement was made that Els Vandevorst’s Isabella Films will film the best seller Winter in Wartime (Oorlogswinter), by former Dutch politician Jan Terlouw, in cooperation with San Fu Maltha’s Fu Works, the producer of Black Book (Zwartboek).
